BIKING 14days/13nights SAIGON to HA NOI
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City(D)
In the morning, we’ll take a fascinating tour of the historical sites of downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The tour will take us to visit famous places including the War Remnants museum and the Presidential Palace. Afterward, we’ll go to the Vietnam Bike Tour garage for bike fittings and a tour brief. Then, we’ll have dinner at a local restaurant and you’re free to explore the city on your own.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh - Cat Tien national park 30km cycling (B,L,D)
Transfer out of the city about 1.5 hours to get out the busy traffic and head on to Vinh Cuu district – Dong Nai province. Start cycling on quiet countryside road to Nam Cat Tien park. This forest area used to be the head quarter of Vietnamese army during the war. We arrive at the ranger post, meeting our Cat Tien park ranger, check in the guest house, a short trekking in the forest to see many old trees in the park. Overnight in Nam Cat Tien national park and take a jeep to see the wild animals in the evening. Overnight in the park.
Day 3: Cat Tien - Da Lat 40km cycling (B,L)
Breakfast at the park. Start cycling through forest in the park to Madagui area. Madagui, in its ethnic minority language, means “The Gui river of the Mạ people”. Mạ people are an ethnic minority of the linguistics family of Mon – Khmer. Their current living area is at the central upstream Dong Nai river on a strip of successive land along the Đạ Đơng river valley, bordering the Bảo Lộc plateau, the Di Linh plateau and the red-soil southeastern area. In Vietnam, there are approximately 30,000 Mạ people, mostly living in Lâm Đồng province with over 20,000 people. There are several Mạ’s villages around Madagui Forest Resort, namely, B’Kẻh village, B’Lú village. Then, we’ll transfer to Prenn waterfall for a short rest and some sight seeing. When we arrive in Da Lat, we’ll check into the hotel and you’ll have some time to cycle around the city and explore its unique sights. You’ll ride past by Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat flower garden, Da Lat market, and Langbiang Mountain.
Day 4: Da Lat - Nha Trang 100km cycling (B,L)
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll begin our 100km ride from the hotel to Nha Trang. We’ll stop along the way to admire the beautiful scenery of the Vietnamese countryside and for a picnic lunch. Upon arrival, we’ll take some time to visit the Ponnagar tower. Then, we’ll settle down for the night and prepare for the next day’s ride.
Day 5: Nha Trang - Tuy Hoa – Phu Yen 100km cycling (B, L)
We’ll enjoy some early morning swimming at the beach, Tai chi with the locals, and breakfast at the hotel. Then, we’ll check out and drive to Ninh Hoa. Our bike ride will begin with a climb over the Co Ma Pass. On the way down the pass, you’ll see scenic views of surrounding mountains, the sea, and Dai Lanh’s sandy beach. We’ll enjoy a seafood lunch before continuing to cycle along peaceful roads to Phu Yen for the night.
Day 6: Phu Yen - Quang Ngai 70km cycling (B, L)
After a short transfer out of the city, today's ride is along challenging, natural country roads. The scenery is stunning as we ride up a small hill to a local village. The path we’ll take is flanked with ride fields and mountains, we’ll stop to enjoy the view and a picnic lunch along the way. We’ll stay overnight in Quang Ngai historical city.
Day 7: Quang Ngai - Hoi An 50km cycling (B,L)
We’ll have a morning ride from the hotel to the famous massacre site at My Lai. Then, we’ll do some charity work at a local school. Afterward, we’ll keep riding to My Khe beach, where we’ll pause for lunch. The rest of the day’s journey will be on dirt roads until we reach Chau O, where we’ll transfer by bus to Hoi An for the night.
Day 8: Hoi An (B)
You’ll have the entire day at leisure in Hoi An. You may explore the city on your own, cycle to My Son heritage, partake in a traditional cooking class, or go snorkeling. We’ll stay in Hoi An for a second night.
Day 9: Hoi An - Hue 100km cycling (B,L)
In the morning, we’ll head to Ngu Hanh Son, the Marble Mountains, to visit the famous stone sculptures. There are hundreds of statues and unique sculptures made of Sandstone and Marble in the park. After taking some time to admire the stonework, we’ll cycle along the coast and up to the Hai Van Pass - a legendary Pass in the center of Vietnam (20km cycling up and down) from 14th century. We’ll enjoy lunch at Lang Co beach, which was recognized by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. After a transfer to Phuoc Tuong hill, well ride down to Cau Hai lagoon, and through the "ghost city" before arriving in Hue for our overnight stay.
Day 10: Hue Train to Hanoi (B,L,D)
In the morning, we’ll ride around the city to visit Hue’s old Citadel of the Nguyen Dynasty (19th & 20th century), Thien Mu pagoda and Tu Duc King Tomb. Then, we’ll return to the hotel for check out. We’ll have a quick lunch in Hue before our transfer to the train station. We’ll take an overnight trip on the Reunification Express Train to Hanoi.
Day 11: Hanoi (B,L,D)
After some rest at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a breakfast at Pho24 (traditional Vietnamese noodle soup) near Ho Guom Lake. Afterward, we’ll spend the entire day exploring Hanoi. Vietnam Bike Tours’ll take a city tour to visit the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, and one pillar pagoda. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to do as you wish.
Day 12: Hanoi to Halong Bay(B,L,D)
We’ll leave Hanoi and cycle through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta en route to Halong Bay. Upon arrival, we’ll board a traditional wooden junk boat for an overnight journey. We’ll feast on a delicious lunch as we cruise among hundreds of islets and discover unspoiled pockets of Halong Bay. We’ll stop to visit Sung Sot cave, one of the most imposing grottos of the Bay. Then, we’ll swim at Soi Sim beach and trek to the top of Titov Mountain for magnificent, panoramic views.
Day 13: Halong Bay to Hanoi(B,L)
We’ll begin the day with a visit to Luon cave. Taking a small bamboo boat, we’ll paddle out to the cave and enjoy the quiet area surrounded by high islets and mountains. Then, we’ll re-board the junk and sail past the Bay’s rock formations (Man’s Head islet, Tortoise islet, Butterfly cave, Lion islet, and Bai Tho mountain). We’ll enjoy the tranquil scenery as the boat meanders its way through the bay on its way back to Halong city. Then, we’ll have a quick transfer by bus back to Hanoi.
Day 14: Hanoi Departure (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, you’re free at leisure to explore the city until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
